During 2 – 9 July 2023, Lighthouse Foundation proudly celebrated National NAIDOC Week and acknowledged the rich history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
On Friday 7 July, Lighthouse team members and some of the Young People in our care gathered at our Youth Resource Hub in Cremorne to celebrate together before heading to the NAIDOC march. We began with an Acknowledgement of Country before sharing a morning tea together that included delicious snacks sourced from Indigenous owned companies. At the march, we held the banner we’d made with our teams’ handprints high and marched with pride to support our First Nations community.
We acknowledge First Nations Elders and the significant role they have and continue to play as holders of knowledge and culture and advocates for their communities. NAIDOC week is over, but we are committed to continuing our learnings about the oldest, continuous living culture on Earth so that we can be a strong ally.
