Volunteering for Lighthouse

People of all ages and from all walks of life volunteer at Lighthouse - and for a range of reasons. Volunteers not only enjoy the 'feel good' feeling of helping out, but they enjoy being part of the Lighthouse 'family' and working shoulder to shoulder with others, learning new skills and hearing how their work is helping the young people.

Without the valuable work of our volunteers Lighthouse simply would not be able to provide the level and quality of support required for the young people in our care. Keep up to date with regular volunteering opportunities via our Facebook page also.

Join your local committee who support a Lighthouse home by raising awareness and funds towards the operating costs of the home, support the primary carer in the operation of the home, create the all important connection with the wider community and help by getting involved in organised working bees.

Corporate Volunteering

Corporate volunteer opportunities enable us to live out our vision to end youth homelessness together. Without the support and commitment of our corporate and community volunteers Lighthouse would be unable to provide the level of service required for the young people seeking our support. Most corporate volunteer opportunities are based at one of our ten homes, often in the form of working bees in the house or garden and making up of packs for Lighthouse homes.

Occasionally there maybe corporate volunteer opportunities in the office or at a fundraising event. We strive to offer mutually beneficial corporate volunteer opportunities which benefit the corporation, the individual volunteer, the carers and young people at Lighthouse as well as the Lighthouse Foundation overall.

We have a capacity for up to 10-15 volunteers at any one time.

Fundraising and Event Management

People wishing to conduct their own fundraising events or campaigns on behalf of  Lighthouse are  needed. Successful  third party  fundraisers by Lighthouse supporters have included:

  • School Fundraisers
  • Sausage Sizzles
  • Chocolate Drives
  • Workplace Free Dress Days
  • Trivia Nights
  • Movie Nights

Volunteer fundraisers will need to refer to Lighthouse for regulations surrounding their fundraising.

Home and Garden maintenance

Lighthouse carers always welcome people who have a special interest in maintenance  and   gardening   upkeep  and  upgrades. We welcome the assistance of volunteers skilled in these areas:

  • Painting
  • Gardening: including lawn mowing, weeding, pruning and planting
  • General maintenance around the home

# Please note that vacancies may differ from time to time.
