Model of Care

The Lighthouse Program is designed to support the young people within all dimensions of their lives.  This can include health, education, self-identity, relationships, social skills, emotional development and self-care.

The strength of the program lies in its commitment to community and family values. This translates into long-term love, nurturing and caring - together with the practicalities of feeding, clothing, educating and socialising. The young people are encouraged to be engaged in day programs such as employment, education, therapy and personal development.

Lighthouse Live-in Care Program
Based on a family/community model, each Lighthouse home typically houses between four and six young people and two carers. The carers live in the home with the young people and act as surrogate parents or siblings, providing a caring and therapeutic relationship to the young people.  The program provides a holistic and total environment of long-term care, with 24-hour, 7 days per week emotional support.

Lighthouse Outreach Program
Young people who are actively seeking accommodation at Lighthouse, and those who have previously resided in a Lighthouse home, are supported through the Lighthouse Outreach Program.

For the young people who have had the courage to move towards reintegration with the broader community, the Outreach Program ensures that a sense of belonging is maintained. They return regularly to their Lighthouse home for practical support and nurturing.
